I would like to draw your attention to a new publication, entitled “The Young Hegel and Religion”. This consists of a collection of essays on Hegel’s “Early Theological Writings”. A book of public ethics, of interest to political theorists and historians of political thought alike.

About Evangelia Sembou

I was born in Athens, Greece. I hold a B.A. in Politics and History with First Class Honours from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London; an M.Sc. in Social and Political Theory with Distinction from The University of Edinburgh and a D.Phil. in Politics from the University of Oxford. I have written my doctoral dissertation on G. W. F. Hegel’s "Phenomenology of Spirit". I have published articles on Hegel in such scholarly journals as "History of Political Thought", the "Jahrbuch für Hegelforschung" and the "Bulletin of the Hegel Society of Great Britain", as well as an article on Hegel and Foucault in an edited collection (conference proceedings). I have also written numerous reviews of books. Moreover, I have presented my work at international conferences. My books include ‘Midwifery’ and Criticism in G. W. F. Hegel’s “Phenomenology of Spirit” (Sankt Augustin: Academia Verlag, 2012), Plato’s Political Philosophy (Exeter: Imprint Academic, April 2012) and Modern Theories of Politics (forthcoming in May 2013 by Peter Lang). I have taught political theory and philosophy in the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education and at several Oxford colleges, and philosophy in the Faculty of Continuing Education at Birkbeck College, University of London. I am currently convenor of the Political Thought Specialist Group of the Political Studies Association of the United Kingdom. I am a member of the Political Studies Association of the United Kingdom, Hegel Society of Great Britain, Britain and Ireland Association for Political Thought, Hegel Society of America, European Society for the History of Political Thought, Internationale Hegel-Vereinigung, Association for Political Theory (APT - North America), the International Political Science Association (IPSA), (2011-2012); Greek Philosophical Society and the Hellenic Political Science Association. I am a reviewer for several scholarly journals.
