The Political Theory group at Edinburgh is a large and diverse comunity of academics, post-doctoral fellows, and PhD students. We hold weekly research seminars and regular conferences and workshops. THE 2016 ANNUAL MONTREAL POLITICAL THEORY MANUSCRIPT WORKSHOP AWARD

Call for applications: The Groupe de recherche interuniversitaire en philosophie politique de Montréal (GRIPP), spanning the departments of political science and philosophy at McGill University, l’Université de Montréal, Concordia University, and l’Université du Québec à Montréal, invites applications for its 2016 manuscript workshop award. The recipient of the award will be invited to Montreal for a day-long workshop in May 2016 dedicated to his or her book manuscript. This “author meets critics” workshop will comprise four to five sessions dedicated to critical discussion of the manuscript; each session will begin with a critical commentary on a section of the manuscript by a political theorist or philosopher who is part of Montreal’s GRIPP community. The format is designed to maximize feedback for a book-in-progress. The award covers the costs of travel, accommodation, and meals.

CFP: CUP Political Theory Essay Prize

CFP: Cambridge University Press Graduate Student’s Prize.

The Association for Political Thought invites graduate students registered for a doctoral degree at any university in the UK or the Republic of Ireland, engaged in research in any area of the fields of political thought and theory, to submit a paper which will form the basis for presentation at the Political Thought Conference 2016, to be held in Oxford (January 7-9, 2016). The academic convenors for the conference (Leigh Jenco, LSE and Phil Parvin, Loughborough) will select one paper to be included in the conference programme. The winning candidate will be given free conference registration, accommodation, meals and travel expenses.

2015 Montreal Political Theory Manuscript Workshop Award Winners

The Groupe de recherche en philosophie politique de Montréal (GRIPP) is pleased to announce that it has, exceptionally this year, made a joint nomination for the 2015 Annual Montreal Political Theory Manuscript Workshop Award. The 2015 award will be shared by Lea Ypi of the Department of Government, LSE, for her manuscript “The Meaning of Partisanship” (co-authored with Jonathan White), and Magali Bessone of the UFR de Philosophie, Université de Rennes 1, for her manuscript “Réparer les injustices coloniales: Propositions néo-républicaines pour une justice réparatrice.” The workshop with Bessone will held in Montreal on May 4, 2015; the workshop with Ypi will held in the fall.

2014 Montreal Political Theory Manuscript Workshop Award Winner

The Groupe de recherche en philosophie politique de Montréal (GRIPP) is pleased to announce the 2014 winner of the Annual Montreal Political Theory Manuscript Workshop Award: “A Commitment to Equality: The Rule of Law in the Real World,” by Paul Gowder of the College of Law, University of Iowa. A workshop on the manuscript will be held in Montreal on May 19, 2014.

Le Groupe de recherche en philosophie politique de Montréal (GRIPP) a le plaisir d’annoncer le gagnant du Prix annuel de l’atelier de manuscrit de philosophie politique de Montréal (2014): « A Commitment to Equality: The Rule of Law in the Real World » par Paul Gowder du College of Law, University of Iowa.
